Banda Fantastica

Banda Fantastica is a Compilation Album by 6 Singapore based Pinoy indie Bands, all members of which are working professionals in fields such as I.T., Architecture, Pharmacy, Etc.The Album was inspired after the PhilmusicSG E-Community was formed. The community started when Pinoy indie bands in Singapore were invited to play in an all filipino gig in Gashaus (a bar in middle road, Singapore). The producer of the gig bet on the filipino talent for music which is a common compliment for singaporeans to express to pinoys.

Being a bit far from home and only having music as a pass time from the stresses of work, the bands decided to work on a project album which will contain original materials they’ve cooked up.

The album was completed on July 17 and an Album Launch Party was held last July 21 in Bar None, Marriott Hotel in Orchard Rd. This is the same venue where Rivermaya, Bamboo, and Pupil have perfomed during their visits to Singapore.

The show started with a bang with a 10 minute drum solo performance by Gilbert Nogales – showcasing his masterful skill that earned him the first prize of the 2007 Singapore Drum Festival which was also held in Singapore.

The launch party was a huge success as the bands performed in front of almost 700 viewers, OFWs and locals alike. The album itself was given away for free to the audience.

Because of the success of Banda Fantastica, PhilmusicSG is now working on a followup album which will showcase 12 pinoy indie bands in Singapore!

More pinoy bands started forming up and signing in after Banda Fantastica. One of PhilmusicSGs goal is make Singapore feel like home when it comes to the Filipino Music Scene, and this is certainly well on its way!
